Oliver Minkley
Its with great sadness, we announce the passing of former Quantic Soul Orchestra bandmate and collaborator Oliver Minkley.
Oliver both recorded and toured with The Quantic Soul Orchestra, contributing a huge amount of energy, musicianship and damn right good spirit to the band.
Recording Congas on numerous Brighton recordings, he was a big part of the record ‘Pushin’ on’ as well as playing with several other funk and soul groups around the city. Though Ollie was a talented Conga & Tambourine player, he contributed far more than just rhythm, he was entertainer, comedian & personal bard to the group, the king of quick witted one liners that got the band through many 6 hour minibus journeys down the M1. He’ll be sadly missed & remembered fondly.
In celebration of his talent and contributions, I’ve uploaded ‘Follow me’ a QSO version of Red Astaire’s ‘Follow me’ that features Oliver on percussion. Should be online for a couple of weeks, please feel free to download and play it out.
